Physical appearance Ð actual birthmarks, permanent markings (tattoos, scarring, burning), alterations to achieve ideals of beauty (tanning, skin whitening, plastic surgery), cultural alterations (genital mutilation, neck enlargement in Thailand, teeth blackening in Africa, ear lengthening in China and South America), transgender.
